Review: Wizkid and Asake Set The Tone for 'Real, Vol. 1' with ‘Jogodo’

Asake x Wizkid

From Mutual Respect to Business Bliss: The Magic of ‘Jogodo’

What began as admiration and grew into mutual respect, has now eventually yielded a business collaboration. This deep-rooted mutual understanding took fans by surprise, while they dust off their dancing shoes in celebration of what they never imagined a few years ago.

Jogodo: Wizkid and Asake, a duo that nobody saw coming.

Off their four-track forthcoming joint Extended Play, 'Real, Vol 1', was Jogodo —the single. The single apparently kicked off as a continuation of a track with Wizkid's soothing catchy vocals serving as the intro. The collaborative energy was seen as they shared the chorus and bridge. It went from Wizkid's cool voice to Asake's assertive tone. The track's vibe blends euphoria and street vibe energy as they complement each other.

The Amapiano track was produced by Magicsticks. It had a 3-minute running time as the buzzing trumpet adds flavour in the interlude.

The excitement of seeing Wizkid release "Jogodo" with Asake has made it the most talked about song in the country. This is evident as it has topped the chart on Nigeria's Apple Music Chart as No. 1.

The song's mastering makes this resonate globally, however some extra-forced Pidgin dialect in the lyric distorts the understanding of lyrics by listeners.
