Fave's 'Intentions': A Soulful Reflection on Growth and Priorities

Nigerian singer and songwriter, FAVE releases a new track, 'Intentions' —the lead single for her forthcoming album. Coming after her sophomore EP, 'Dutty Love' and The Dutty Love Tour in February 2025, she doubles down the excitement here as she reminisces about her past.

Co-produced by Jonah Little and OTIS, the fast-tempo instrumental is a blend of Afrobeats and hip-hop kicks. The electric guitar layers the beat while adding electrifying flavour. Fave complements the beat's rhythm with her fast-paced lyrics which she delivers in a rap-sung style.

She evokes nostalgia while wishing what she could have done better when she was younger. Now older, her needs shift from wishes to reality. She focuses on family and her business. Frivolities like affection come secondary and must be said in clear terms. She did not give the beat a breather while she unleashed her lived experiences. The undertone of the third verse evokes emotions in this piece as it depicts vocal dexterity.

She shines through in this piece as her soulful style, deep lyrics, and elevating delivery were her strengths. While she updates her discography, she also makes a bold statement with her music —carving her path and etching her name in the wall of lyricism.

'Intentions' stands out for the message it conveys, which on the other hand resonates with listeners. Her debut album already has an established tone and foundation.

  1. Properly articulated. I’m wondering if this is better than her other songs
