Phyno x Flavour Takes The Enugu Heritage To a Global Stage in 'Uzo Ano' Single
Over the years, we have seen a profound synergy between these two legendary singers and songwriters; Flavour and Phyno. The former carved his niche in the music industry in the early 2000s, and the latter has been a powerhouse since the early 2010s — and both continue to thrive into the 2020s. Together, they have rolled out a massive catalogue of hits as a pair and as featured acts.
The previous year was a success for them. Flavour ended it with his highly anticipated 'Afroculture' album in November, while Phyno released his single 'Ask Of Me Now' in October 2025. In 2026, they just added a new single to their discography with 'Uzo Ano'. The track was teased shortly before its release. Since its release, audiences responded enthusiastically, depicting how strongly it resonates.
Produced by Jayswag, the fast-tempo instrumental has Flavour's mellow vocals on the chorus. He laces the beat in simple lyrics and a magical humming. The instrumental leans heavily on hip-hop kicks and electric synths while maintaining a subtle progression. This creates space for Phyno's verses to breathe. The track opens with an undertone which evokes a reflective mood. The track closes with the same refrain introduced at the beginning.

'Uzo Ano', an Igbo phrase which simply means 'into four portions', sees Phyno and Flavour going back to their roots. They seek God's blessings in four folds as they break the kola nut, while reminiscing about their daily lifestyle in Enugu State, where they come from. The lyric: Tete ula n'ututu gote coke na ọkpa. Wa ya ụzọ anọ. Madam, wa ya ụzọ anọ. Oji Igbo, wa ya ụzọ anọ.
English Translation: (Get up in the morning, buy coke and okpa. Divide it into four. Madam, divide it into four. Igbo kolanut, divide it into four).
While Flavour yearns blessings and reassures himself of success in the chorus, Phyno opens his verse in Igbo spirituality. He raps about resilience, his journey and pride, and closes with affirmative declarations. The specific sniff sound in the refrain, the double alliteration in the intro, and the crisp mix on Phyno's backup vocal in the chorus give the track a layer of creative depth.
Few duos in contemporary Nigerian music embody cultural preservation and modern reinvention as consistently as Flavour and Phyno. 'Uzo Ano' proves why this pair remains distinct — from their complementing vocals to their refining sounds, to their developed craft and style. This gives them an edge over their peers in the industry. This collaboration stands as one of their most refined releases to date.
