Uzikwendu's 'Abali': A Nighttime Anthem by Roy OC Chukwu

Nigeria's fastest rapper Uzikwendu, releases a single titled— "Abali". 'Abali' an Igbo word that literally means 'night'. Uzikwendu's "Abali" portrays the happenings between two lovers at night.

The fast-tempo rhythm was produced by Irock Classic. The playful synth, however, gave it an energetic yet mellow vibe for rap to flow. The instrumental turned into a comic anthem as Uzikwendu brought it to life. Uzikwendu's cadence resonates with humour as he employs that as his pattern for delivery.

The song was illuminated with catchy hooks that lived throughout the entire cut.

As seen in the lyrics,

O mepe ukwu, obago

O mepe onu, obago

O mepe anya, obago

O mepe nti, obago

This hook layered the thematic message which the chorus built on.

The 3-minute clip "Abali", survives in a dancehall rhythm, the consonance, and the charming vocals of Uzikwendu. 'Obago' would have been the parenthetical title as it was mentioned about the same number of times as "Abali". Uzikwendu's style remains consistent, and "Abali" is a testament to his unique sound. "Abali", a prime addition to late-night party playlists.
