Rickyfame Pays Homage to His Mother on 'Mom (Nne Muru Eze)'

'Nne Muru Eze': Rickyfame's Tribute to the Woman Who Made Him a King

"...when children feel so much urgency to reciprocate their mother's care, it means her love is genuine. When they do so, it becomes so fulfilling." Rickyfame Mom (Nne muru Eze) Review By Roy OC Chukwu

Fast-rising singer and producer, Rickyfame released a new single titled 'Mom (Nne muru Eze)'. He goes down memory lane and is caught in nostalgia. The three-minute record is a mellow piece clinging to promises and gratitude. He pens down an emotional, heartfelt message to his mother.

Produced by Rickyfame himself, 'Mom' leans heavily into Afrobeats with a slow-tempo instrumental. The record opens with melodic ad-libs and a notification sound that interweaves throughout the track and complements it. The track is layered in three slow-kick rhythms as Rickyfame illuminated his verse and chorus in laid-back vocals.

Rooted in Igbo language, the parenthetical title (Nne muru Eze) literally means "a mother who gave birth to a King". On the cut, Rickyfame remains unapologetic as he calls himself a King, sings how he loves his mother, and makes promises to fulfill. He sings:

"Afo muru mu,

Nne muru Eze,

Me, I love you die,

Nne muru Eze mu." For me, 'Mom' spells out the concept of when children feel so much urgency to reciprocate their mother's care, it means her love is genuine. When they do so, it becomes so fulfilling. The song shines with simple rhymes as he uses storytelling to convey his message.

'Mom (Nne muru Eze)' exudes a similar thematic presence as Vicoka's hit single 'Port Harcourt' — both are love letters to mothers that turn into personal gratitude. The cut could pass for an emotional piece as it resonates with fans who enjoy their mother's love.

'Mom' is a promising showcase for Rickyfame's songwriting, even if the production and mastering lag behind the sentiment. With a stronger team behind him, he has room to push into deeper, more layered themes.
